What is Physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is an autonomous profession where it assists with restoring / optimising functional movement which is affected by an injury, illness or disability. It can help in improving physical function and also in some instances help to minimise the risk of re-occurrence in the future.
It takes a holistic approach underpinned by comprehensive initial assessment which includes observation, examination and specific special tests to identify the problem. It involves the patient directly in their own care. Once the problem is identified, appropriate interventions will be tailor made with SMART goals (Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic and in a Timely manner).
The interventions includes – education & advice, soft tissue mobilisation, exercise prescription, use of modalities such as TENS machine, ice and heat pads, resistance bands, etc.
Assessment and treatment interventions for various musculo-skeletal injuries, neurological conditions:
Neck Pain, Mid back and lower back, Sciatica, elbow pain, Shoulder pain, hip pain, knee pain, ankle and foot pain.
Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Stroke.
